Troop 7071 journeyed across Ohio to visit the National Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air force base. From The Wright Flyer, the Memphis Bell, Stealth tech, to an experimental flyer saucer. There was even a B-25 with special meaning and plenty of wonderful stories. The scouts learned of many "female firsts", with displays dedicated to women and their contributions to our nation's air defense services. Women such as Staff Sgt. Esther Blake who was the first woman in the Air Force and Jeannie Flynn Leavitt who became the first female fighter pilot. A wonderful trip for the first Athens BSA troop for girls.
Special thanks to scoutmaster Jeff Fischer and the scouts of Athens Troop 53 for inviting our new Troop to join them on this trip.
